Is it Spring??

I had a great day today. Plein air painting with my friends from Boothbay Harbor. Here's my friend Corinne painting in Grimes Cove. It's so incredibly beautiful there. It was a balmy 45 degrees. Who knew you could paint out in Maine in February? Hopefully a few paintings of Grimes Cove will get posted over the weekend.

Moonlight Sonata

Paper Pulp and Mixed Media, 18x24, $1,200 framed, from the Midsummer Night's Dream series

Yesterday I took all 5 of the paintings down to Portsmouth, NH for the show at 100 Market St.
and I've posted all of them on a new blog page - Paper Pulp Paintings. There is a link to that page just above. There you can read about the paper pulp process and see how the work is framed. My computer screen is showing a blue cast to this painting. It may be the screen or the fact that they were photographed under the glazing, which is acrylic. You should know that this background is OFF WHITE. For more information on the show itself click on the events page link above.

Starry Starry Night

Paper Pulp and Mixed Media, 16x20, framed $900.00

Here's the first of the 5 paintings going to the show in Portsmouth. These pieces are very different from my pastel work in some ways but not in others. I think they have the same mysterious quality. This is from my Midsummer Night's Dream series. The lighting at the bottom is a little dark - I had to photograph these already framed, the frame is very deep and so the shadow effect in the photo. Shipping is not included in these prices but the handsome frame is. If you're in the NH area in the next couple of months you can see these paintings at 100 Market St in Portsmouth. For more information email me.

New Show Feb 13 - April 19

I've just had 5 of my paper pulp paintings accepted into the Fiber/Textile Show at the Gallery at 100 Market St. in Portsmouth, NH. This will be the first time that all 5 have been shown together. The setting is fabulous so I hope you'll be able to stop by. See the events page for more details. I'll be photographing the paintings this weekend and will post them for everyone to see.

Morning, Scarborough Marsh

Pastel on Wallis, 8x8 image, 14x14 framed, $300.00

I went down to Scarborough Marsh yesterday to take some photos. It was 20 degrees and the scene did not look like this. I painted this last summer and it seems to get a lot of attention on the internet so I thought I would post it today to remind us that summer will come again. This painting is framed in a gold plein air frame, shipping in the US is included.

New Snow, Maine

Pastel on prepared board, 8x10 image, 14x16 framed, $ 350.00

We were driving to Biddeford the other day and this scene struck me. It was late afternoon and the sun was getting ready to set, the hazy sky making the sun ball look misty. "It looked like snow" and indeed the next day we got 18" of the white stuff. This painting is framed in a gold plein air frame. Shipping in the US is included.

Green Pears

Pastel on Wallis, 6 x12 image in a gold plein air frame 12x18, $295.00. Giclee prints available at FAA from 27.00.

Yesterday it was snowing all day. It seemed like a good time to do a still life painting. These pears were lined up on my counter just like this. They looked like such characters lined up like that. They were very sturdy pears and still green. This painting is framed in a gold plein air frame and the price includes shipping within the US.

Pastel on Wallis, 5x5 image, 14 x 14 matted in gold beaded frame, $250.00

We're packing up for the trip back to Maine. Here's one more painting not yet sold. Price includes shipping within the US. I haven't done much painting while I've been away, but I have lots of photos and a pretty good memory so I hope I'll do a few California paintings in among the Maine pieces when I get back.
