Mt. Monadnock

As you know I have recently relocated to New Hampshire. I am very excited that I will now be able to paint in the beautiful Monadnock area of the state. Recently I took a photo trip to Mt Monadnock. It was a lovely sunny day and I was pretty disappointed that when we got to the the mountain it was pretty much covered by a snow cloud. I guess mountains have their own weather. I did get a few good pictures and so this painting. This is an acrylic painting on gallery wrap canvas. 6" x 6" x 1". You can see more information in my etsy shop: http://www.kathleendaughan.etsy.com

Watercolor Paintings from Pemaquid, Maine

I've not been keeping up with this blog the last year in favor of My Plein Air Painter's Journal. Now I've decided to reactivate this blog and post some of the pictures that I've been painting. These three are ACEO's (2.5"x3.5") that I painted at Pemaquid a couple of weeks ago.  ACEO's are popular to collect these days as they are very reasonably priced. These 3 can be purchased in the daily paintings section of my website or from my Etsy shop. The links are over in the righthand side bar.

My Painter's Journal

I've been traveling extensively for the last several months. I haven't been able to post on this blog page during this time but I have been posting in my Painter's Journal. You can follow my adventures by clicking on this link for:  A Painter's Journal

Pemaquid of course

The Islands of John's Bay, watercolor, 6x6, 35.00

Yesterday, Dec 1, was the first day of the December Facebook painting challenge. The challenge is to make 20 paintings or sketches before the holidays. Since I've been traveling so much I haven't held a paintbrush for over 2 months. I really needed something to get me back into the studio. Yesterday was an incredibly beautiful and warm day for Maine in December. I had planned to paint in the studio but could not pass up the chance to go to my favorite plein air spot, Pemaquid Point. This is a 6x6 watercolor. Even though it was a sunny day I still needed to work from the car. Watercolor is the best medium under those circumstances. This painting is available on my website along with several other watercolor paintings.  www.kathleendaughan.com  Click on the portfolio link on the left and then choose the watercolor link. These small paintings make great holiday gifts.

It's time for the holiday art receptions. Saturday, Dec 3 is the date for the Holiday Reception at Yarmouth Frame Shop and Gallery. 30 gallery artists will be showing small works for holiday giving. "Green Pears" is one of my contributions. 10% of all original art sales at the gallery will go to Toys for Tots. Stop by and meet many of the artists on Saturday from 4-7. If you can't make it on Saturday, stop by anytime during December. The gallery will be open 7 days a week. The Yarmouth Frame Shop and Gallery is located at 720 Rt One in Yarmouth. It's a perfect place to get your framing done as well. For information on more art shows this month check out the events page on my website: www.kathleendaughan.com/events.
