I finally got back to painting today and of course I had to paint my favorite - Scarborough Marsh. This piece was actually started at the marsh in July and I just put the finishing touches on today. With my new camera and my new adobe skills that I've been working on I'm pleased now with the quality of my postings, especially the yellows. It takes awhile to get it all together. Shipping within the US is included in the price.

St Lawrence Auction

The St Lawrence Arts Center is a wonderful old building (a former church) on the top of Munjoy Hill in Portland, Maine. That's my neighborhood. The center is mainly a performance center but this week they are holding an art auction. I have 5 pieces in the auction. There are over 50 artists represented with the opening bids starting from $20.00 to $300.00. It looks like there is something for every taste. The preview is Thursday from 6-8, the silent auction is Saturday from 1-4. For more information you can email me and I'll send it to you and give you a link to the on line preview. I met up with a regular blog viewer yesterday who reminded me that I hadn't been posting much lately. I have made 4 new portfolio pages for the blog during the last 2 weeks though, so take a look at those. Now that I've got that and some framing done I'll get back to painting and there should be a lot of new posts in the next several weeks. Keep checking in.

Is it Spring??

I had a great day today. Plein air painting with my friends from Boothbay Harbor. Here's my friend Corinne painting in Grimes Cove. It's so incredibly beautiful there. It was a balmy 45 degrees. Who knew you could paint out in Maine in February? Hopefully a few paintings of Grimes Cove will get posted over the weekend.

Yesterday I took all 5 of the paintings down to Portsmouth, NH for the show at 100 Market St.

My computer screen is showing a blue cast to this painting. It may be the screen or the fact that they were photographed under the glazing, which is acrylic. Starry Starry Night

Here's the first of the 5 paintings going to the show in Portsmouth. These pieces are very different from my pastel work in some ways but not in others. I think they have the same mysterious quality. This is from my Midsummer Night's Dream series. The lighting at the bottom is a little dark - I had to photograph these already framed, the frame is very deep and so the shadow effect in the photo. New Show Feb 13 - April 19

I've just had 5 of my paper pulp paintings accepted into the Fiber/Textile Show at the Gallery at 100 Market St. in Portsmouth, NH. This will be the first time that all 5 have been shown together.
