Midsummer Night's Dream - Moon Rising

Mixed Media: paper pulp, organic inclusions and ink, 16 x 20, POR

I stopped by the Mixed Media Show at River Tree Center for the Arts today and took a photo of this piece that is in the show. If you double click on the image you can see the detail more clearly. Sorry about the flash, I forgot to turn it off. This pulp painting won the "most original" award in the MWA Awards Show last May. It is available. If you are interested please email me. The show is very interesting, if you have a chance you should stop by and take a look.

Ballet Dancers

Yesterday I painted with the Pastel Painters of Maine and the NH Pastel Society. The Portland School of Ballet students modeled for us. It was a cooperative artists event and was such fun. We had more than 35 artists from all over Maine, NH, Mass, and even NY. Paintings of this subject will have to be come from sketches and photos (you can see the artists with cameras in hand) but I thought you would love to see what was happening in Portland yesterday. Eventually paintings will show up in a Pastel Show somewhere - move over Degas.

Mixed Media Show opens Feb 22.

Goodness, it's been almost 2 weeks since my last post. I've been doing some interesting things though. I was in New York and visited the Art Students League ( fabulous) and the Museum of Modern Art. I am totally taken with the 3 large water lilly panels by Monet. They are very inspiring.

I was very pleased to have a mixed media piece "Midsummer Night's Dream, Moon Rising" accepted into the open juried Mixed Media Show at River Tree Center for the Arts in Kennebunk. The show opens Friday Feb 22 so stop by if you're in the area. I also have several pieces in the Love River Tree Show which is up until March 4. It's a nice show as well. Details are on the right of this page.
